University of Manitoba Vascular Plant Herbarium (WIN)

The Vascular Plant Herbarium of the Department of Biological Sciences, University of Manitoba (WIN) houses the most extensive collection of dried preserved vascular plants of Manitoba (85,000 specimens), dating from 1900-present. These include a large number of specimens from the Hudson Bay Lowlands, particularly Wapusk National Park. In addition, there are significant collections from tall grass prairie, boreal, and alvar habitats. The genus Carex is especially well-represented in our collection.
