Description: Flower diameter 35-42 mm, length 50-70 mm, stigma lobe number 5-6, stigma lobe color yellow, outer perianth color yellow with rosy brown midrib, inner perianth color yellow with pale maroon streaks; styles maroon-magenta; flowers collected late morning and afternoon, additional flowers collected 24 April 2001; Joints collected by Joni Ward 24 April 2001; Fruits collected by R. Trelease and N. Foisy, 16 October 2001, fruits dry at maturity, light tan, 15-17 mm in diameter, 15-20 mm in length, spines on fruit are 15 mm long; seeds mediuim in size, tan-gold.
