Annuals, 10-40+ cm. Leaf blades lanceolate to lance-linear or linear, 25-80+ × 4-18+ mm, lengths 4-8+ times widths, margins ± crenate or entire. Peduncles (1-)2-8+ cm. Outer phyllaries 5, connate 3/5-2/3 their lengths, ovate, 3.5-4.5 mm. Ray florets 8-13; corollas yellow-orange, laminae oblong-elliptic, 2-8+ × 1-2.5+ mm. Disc florets 25-40+. Fruits 2.3-2.8 mm. Flowering Sep-Nov. Openings in pine forests; 800-2000+ m; Ariz.; Mexico (Chihuahua, Durango, Sonora).
