United States, New Mexico, Sandoval, Cibola National Forest, Sandia Mountains, 1 mile north of Sandia Crest parking lot along North Crest Trail, then down from west face toward Needle.
Perennial shrub, sparse on shaded slope with large hummus accumulation. 150 cm tall, 100 cm maximum diameter, in fruit only, shiny black drupe, spines in threes at nodes.
