Flat upland of mixed oak, hickory, and winged elm (Q. phellos dominant). Mostly in sunny locations of old clearcut and utility lines.
Iredell soil area
These 3 specimens (TFW 7268, 7281, 10900) are from the same metapopulation spanning the Charlotte/Mecklenburg county line. Leaves are persistently hairy below more similar to, or perhaps showing introgression with, Packera paupercula var. appalachiana (P. plathensis, s.l.). #10900 also has larger heads and a less well developed inflorescence than P. anonyma typically does.
