Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. Open prairie-dominated prairie fen, small 2m sq. shrub area in middle of open pocket with more dense shrubs to south; common shrubs include Toxicodendron vernix, Cornus sericea, Betula pumila, and Frangula alnus. Other species in area; Carex stricta, Bromus ciliatus, Pycnanthemum virginicum, Thelypteris palustris, Symphyotrichum lanceolatum, S. boreale, Lysimachia quadriflora, and Eupatorium perfoliatum. Ground wet and fills in footprints.
