Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. Small opening within shrub encroached area in southeastern lobe of prairie fen; Frangula alnus dominates the surrounding area; within the pocket there is Dasiphora fruticosa, Toxicodendron vernix, Cornus foemina. Other species in area include Solidago rugosa, S. canadensis, Pycnanthemum virginianum, Symphyotrichum boreale, Carex stricta, Andropogon gerardii. Ground moist but not inundated.
