Narrow fen at base of Quercus sp. Dominated upland. Water appears to seep out from base of upland and creates tranition/wooded fen zone at base. This occasionally gives way to high quality patches of fen, but much of the fen is overtaken by Lythrum salicaria and Typha spp. Area not likely to persist at prairie fen without management. Typha angustifolia dominated area; Dasiphora fruticosa, Pycnanthemum virginicum in area; Impatiens capensis is common with Apios americana; quadrat slightly raised to area surrounding; ground mostly mucky above, but sandy about 30cm down.
Flowers -NA.Well-represented in area; about 1-2 per sq. m for 5 sq. m; none in flower; about 20cm tall; growing with Impatiens capensis and Lathyrus palustris.
