Prairie fen surrounded by small wood pockets and agricultural fields. Several vegetaion zones: sedge meadow, wooded, marl. Most previlent species include Cyperaceae, Dasiphora fruticosa, Cornus, Symplocarpus foetidus, and Typha. Some Phalaris arundinacea near woods on north section of fen. Many small creeks zig-zag fen (less than 1m wide). Woody cover includes Larix laricina, Betula pumila, other birches, and Toxicodendron vernix. Twenty meters east of eastern border in about center north-south of fen. Hunting blind on stilts 30m east and a cement block (2m tall, 0.5m wide) is 20m east on border. Area dominated by sedges including Carex stricta, asters, and Typha. Density of shrubs in a 1-4m2 group every 10-20m2. Shrubs include Toxicodendron vernix, Cornus, and Salix. Some trees nearby, aspen and black walnut trees along border. Ground puddling in stems, tussocky, surface water in quadrat.
Population - clumped, sparse, 1-2 individuals per 1m^2 for 10m^2. Found near Typha, Cornus, and sedges on wet to very moist soil.
