Prairie fen surrounded by small wood pockets and agricultural fields. Several vegetaion zones: sedge meadow, wooded, marl. Most previlent species include Cyperaceae, Dasiphora fruticosa, Cornus, Symplocarpus foetidus, and Typha. Some Phalaris arundinacea near woods on north section of fen. Many small creeks zig-zag fen (less than 1m wide). Woody cover includes Larix laricina, Betula pumila, other birches, and Toxicodendron vernix. Within 75m of western border of fen, approximately center north-south, only 10m west of aspen grove in center of fen. Area dominated by Dasiphora fruticosa, Thelypteris palustris, and Cyperaceae. Many aspen seedlings (1 seedlings per 2-4m2) and some browsed Cornus. Ground tussocky and moist but not wet.
Population - clumped, common, 1-2 small sapling per 1m^2 area for 5m^2, found near D. fruticosa and Cornus on moist soil.
