Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. Sedge meadow opening about 8000 square meters; Dasiphora fruticosa is the dominant shrub; many Typha sp. Individuals; has not yet taken over but might in the future; hummocks small; Valeriana uliginosa very common in area; only a few scattered shrubs apart from distinct shrub line; shrub line about 25m to northeast and 40m to the east; ground wet but not inundated.
