Fen curves around east and south portions of the lake. Many "No Trespassing" signs posted. Mostly herbaceous Cyperaceae with shrubs on borders. Actively maintained by The Nature Conservancy. Fay Lake Road borders on east and south side fo fen. Near bend in Fay Lake Road, 70m south of east-west Fay Lake Road, practically underneath power lines, Carex dominant with Asteraceae and Rosaceae with shrubs of Cornus, Toxicodendron vernix about every 2-4m2. Shrubs more dense near road. Ground hummocky and moist to dry.
Population - In surrounding area, clumped and common. More common near Typha and wetter soil, 1-5 per 1m2 for 20m2.
