Prairie fen surrounded by small wood pockets and agricultural fields. Several vegetaion zones: sedge meadow, wooded, marl. Most previlent species include Cyperaceae, Dasiphora fruticosa, Cornus, Symplocarpus foetidus, and Typha. Some Phalaris arundinacea near woods on north section of fen. Many small creeks zig-zag fen (less than 1m wide). Woody cover includes Larix laricina, Betula pumila, other birches, and Toxicodendron vernix. In southwestern portion of fen, practically on state line between Michigan and Indiana, approximately 200m west of post with flag. In grove of Cornus and Viburnum lentago trees. Carex stricta dominants with purple meadow rue, asters, and Rosaceae. Tall tussocks (25-35cm) with bare, muddy wet ground in between.
Population - blue-green grass growing on sides of Carex stricta tussocks. Common in area, no flowers, 60-80cm tall.
