Habitat: In partial shade of Populus angustifolius, Pinus ponderosa, Juniperus scopulorum, Pinus edulis on floodplain of riparian corridor along river; closest associates include Ribes leptanthemum, Maianthemum stellatum, Geranium caespitosum, Salix sp., Oxytropis sericea, Clematis ligusticifolia; scattered patches on riverbank floodplain.
Substrate: Quaternary terrace deposits derived from surrounding Precambrian granite hills and Tertiary intrusive volcanic rock
